Six Words

One of the blogs that I follow is talking about summing up your life in six words. I thought, "Six words!!" That's all?

What can I say, I'm wordy! :-)

However ... after thinking about it for a minute, I was able to come up with a little something. So without further adieu ... my life in six words:

Nothing but a work in progress.

Aka, God is not finished with me yet (but that's more than six).

Aka, I have so much work to do (to become Christ-like).

Aka, I am itching to be glorified (hey! six words!).

Sweet 'n Sour

I clued Andrew in on what was going on in the NAME THAT PHOTO CONTEST (below). When he saw which photo I chose, he said, "That doesn't even look like me!"

Truthfully, it really doesn't, because he's not a sour boy. I just happened to snap that picture at the exact moment he shot me a smarty pants look.

SO! I told him that in all fairness, another picture that was more true to his personality should be posted. So here they are - side by side - sweet and sour.

Tupper-Tips

More Tupperware?

Well ... I just want you to know that I will not solely be posting about Tupperware on this blog. It's just that, it's new to me, and I really do love this stuff!!

I thought it would be a cool thing to periodically give everyone a little Tupper-Tip.

What's a Tupper-Tip?

I'm glad you asked.

A Tupper-Tip is a tip that will help you use your Tupperware to it's fullest ability. I mean, just because you use Tupperware, doesn't mean that you can store your cookies in your new modular mate and they will never rot, right? Of course not. That would mean that we live in Heaven. But ... there are a few tricks that we can learn to make our Tupperware work its hardest - for us.

Cuz we're special and, well ... we spent a lot of money on our Tupperware and we want to save as much money as possible on food spoilage, right? Right.


So without further delay, here is Tupper-Tip #1:

Brown sugar.

We all use it, and we all know it goes bad. Quickly. Like long before we use it up. It ends up hard and clumpy, right?

First, if you put your brown sugar in a modular mate, whatever size is appropriate for you, make sure that it's sealed properly. If the lid isn't on, it's going to spoil. Secondly, if it starts to harden ... like if it's been in your modular mate for months ... take a small piece of sandwich bread (about a half slice), and place it in with the brown sugar. The moisture from the bread helps the sugar stay nice and soft!

I'm sure even this has its limits, but it will definitely buy you some time. And for goodness sake, get to baking. That's the best way to make sure your brown sugar never goes to waste! ;-)

Photo Contest/Giveaway

These are really cool, and they're a lot bigger than they look. In fact, a lot of Tupperware is like that. I was surprised at all of my purchases, because they all look smaller in the catalog. Just something to be aware of...

This was the day our family went out to the prairie lands for a family outing. Obviously, Andrew got a little rumbly in his tummy and went for the great, healthy snack of ... cough, cough ... Doritos.

Now you give me a caption (by leaving a comment) that explains why my sweet son has that sour look on his face. ;-)

Tupperware

Tupperware?





Yep. Tupperware. That's right. I'm selling it. I don't know about you, but I haven't seen much Tupperware since I was a kid. Growing up, my mom always used the little kids cups, and we sometimes got a glass full of soda pop with our dinner. There were three of us, and we had to split one pop. With some ice, that always equaled one cup full. I'm sure Mom was being frugal by splitting the pop three ways, but besides that ... we learned to share.

Mom used Tupperware mixing bowls too. Back then, they were yellow and green. I have quite a few baking memories with those bowls ... pumpkin bread, homemade rolls, and egg nog are the three goodies I recall helping her whip up the most. She still has them, and I'm hoping I will inherit them one day. After all, you can never have enough mixing bowls, right?

Where was I? Oh yes...

Happy Belated Valentine's Day

Late blogging = bad blogging, and that's me lately. But I still hope you had a great Valentine's Day and I HAD to show you something I came across.

I mean, really. Who goes grocery shopping the night before Valentine's Day...

Picks up some oranges....

Opens the package once she's home....

Spills one of those oranges on the floor...

Picks it up to dust it off...

And finds this:


A perfectly shaped heart imprinted on the bottom of the orange.

Now, I can either look at that as an odd coincidence, or look at it like someone out there loves me. And I choose the latter. LOL. I have no idea how it got there, or who put it there. But it must have been God, because I'm positive this heart is not man-made.


And just so ya' know. I spread the love and presented it to my daughter for Valentine's Day, who was very appreciative but thought nothing of ripping open the beautiful heart and chowing down. Kids these days. I would have kept it in my room until it rotted.

Book Review

I just finished this book a couple of nights ago. Although it was a very touching story, I struggled with setting the story of the book of Hosea into the late 1800's ... in other words, I'm not sure God would call a Christian young man to marry a prostitute. (Be not unequally yoked). However, the story was still very well written, and God's love and forgiveness was so evident in Michael's life, that it pierced through Angel's stone cold heart. And believe me. It was stone cold. A great picture of what God can do in one's life, no matter how broken and hurt we are.

I wouldn't say it was a page turner, until the last 40 pages. But entertaining, for sure. I'm not sorry I bought the book, and am looking forward to reading more from Rivers.

Would I recommend it to my best friend? You betchya'!

Now hold on to your little prairie bonnet ... I'm reading a book my mother-in-law loaned to me, and so far, I absolutely LOVE it. It will "fit" on this blog too - stay tuned to find out why!
